Three firefighters were struck by the driver of a vehicle while responding to a separate crash in Uxbridge on Sunday night.
Police and fire responded to a collision in the area of Wagg Road and Highway 47 , Durham police said in a post on social media .
While investigating, an approaching vehicle struck the three firefighters, and all three were taken to a Toronto-area hospital with serious injuries.
A driver involved in the first crash was also taken to hospital in stable condition.
Officers expected an extended closure of the roadway for the investigation. They also advised people to avoid travel unless necessary due to “extremely hazardous” road conditions.
