Bengaluru, Nov 17: In a bid to make affordable computing accessible at the grassroots, the Karnataka government on Monday announced the launch of KEO (Knowledge-driven, Economical, Open-source), an AI-ready personal computer designed and developed in the State.

IT-BT Minister Priyank Kharge said the Department of Electronics, IT & BT, in collaboration with KEONICS, has introduced KEO as the State’s answer to bridging the digital divide.

Although the minister did not reveal the cost of the PC — which will be unveiled at the Bengaluru Tech Summit on November 18 — he emphasised that it would be affordable and built on an open-source RISC-V processor.

KEO has been in development for a year and is being custom-built alongside startups and semiconductor
