The Railway Protection Force in October had booked 8,184 people under various offences ranging from ticketless travel to illegal entry into ladies’ coaches in Central Railway’s Mumbai division. A total of Rs 38.03 lakh was collected as penalty for these offences. ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW VIDEO

Among the key violations, 59 persons were booked under the Railway Property (Unlawful Possession) Act for allegedly stealing railway property, leading to recoveries worth Rs 4.62 lakh. Another 17 people were arrested for illegal possession of liquor, ganja and tobacco products valued at Rs 8.21 lakh. The RPF also apprehended 161 persons for theft of passenger belongings and other crimes against passengers.
