Rameez Nemat Khan, a name unfamiliar to most outside Uttar Pradesh until this week, has suddenly become a central figure in the political and familial turbulence within the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).

His name cropped up after Rohini Acharya, the daughter of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, dramatically quit politics and publicly distanced herself from her family. In her remarks, she mentioned two names, one of them being Rameez Nemat Khan, thrusting him into the spotlight.

Khan, 38, is known in political circles as part of Tejashwi Yadav’s inner team, a long-standing friendship that traces back to their cricketing years.

Born in November 1986, he studied at Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, and later completed both his BA and MBA from Jamia Millia Islamia.
