Santa makes his seasonal debut in downtown Mount Clemens this week with a pair of holiday events coming to town.

The county seat of Macomb kicks off the holiday season on Friday evening followed by a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Santa Parade on Saturday morning.

Mount Clemens City Commissioner Erik Rick and Michelle Weiss of the city’s Downtown Development Authority are chairing the parade committee, which welcomes long-absent participants such as McLaren Macomb hospital and new entrants likes the Seven’s Committee.

“I’d just like Santa to spread some holiday cheer, especially to those who have been having a rough time lately,” Rick said Sunday.
