Hundreds of high school students are at home right now after they walked out of school on Monday morning to protest the Whitman-Hanson Regional School District's decision to cut more than 20 positions right before the holiday season.

The students aren't just said -- they're upset. On paper, it's five teachers, two long-term substitutes, 11 paraprofessionals and five non-union staff members that are being cut. But to the students at Whitman-Hanson Regional, these aren't just numbers, but members of their school district community.

"It just hurts that the teachers that do the most for us are getting cut at a time like this," one student said.
