NEWARK - Top-seeded Malcolm X Shabazz High School scored a late touchdown and grabbed a game-sealing interception to take a 26–16 victory over Madison in the North 2, Group 2 football championship on Friday.
Madison led twice in the second half — first 13–7 at the break and later 16–14 on a late fourth-quarter field goal by senior kicker Mac Russo, the first of his career. But with 1:25 remaining, Shabazz delivered the decisive strike when sophomore Faheem Osbon found open space on a miscommunication in the Madison secondary and scored the go-ahead touchdown.
The Bulldogs added a pick-six as time expired, with senior defender Nasir Richardson intercepting a desperation heave and racing the length of the field as Shabazz secured its third straight New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic
