The Sequoia Ravens stepped onto the court Saturday as San Mateo County’s last volleyball team standing. They walked off the court, after a dramatic Game 5 win in extra points, as the first team in program history to advance to the Nor Cal finals.

The No. 1-seed Ravens (24-15) pulled victory from the jaws of defeat in more ways than one, rallying for a 25-20, 18-25, 12-25, 25-11, 18-16 win over No. 5 Los Gatos in the CIF Northern California Division III regional semifinals on their home court in Redwood City. It marks Sequoia’s second straight five-set victory, after going the distance to defeat Bullard-Fresno in last Thursday’s Nor Cal quarterfinals .
