Detroit police are investigating a fatal shooting last week at an illegal barbershop in a school on the city's west side.

"This was not a school shooting," Detroit Police Capt. Matthew Bray of the department's Eighth Precinct said during a media briefing after the shooting on Friday near the Charles Wright Academy. "There were no Detroit Public Schools students or staff members at the location at the time."
