Growing Concerns: Snow makes holiday decorating appropriate

With the recent snow, I have found my holiday spirit and with that, the need to decorate.

Lots of the garden centers offer workshops on creating planters and arrangements. Here are a few tips and tricks I have learned during the years.

If you are starting with a container that already has plants and soil in it now, don’t remove the plants just cut them off at the soil level and allow their roots to work as an armature to hold the greens in place.

If you are starting with nothing in your pots, I like to use fresh oasis foam, which you can purchase at the dollar stores. Wet the oasis before using. Add a layer of soil to the bottom of your pot, then the oasis and fill in all the empty space with more soil. Everything should be tight so the arrangement does not fall apar
