In baseball, November is a time for roster deadlines. The Pirates face two important ones this week.
Tuesday at 6 p.m. is the deadline for teams to add prospects to their 40-man roster and protect them from the Rule 5 draft. Friday is the non-tender deadline, when the Pirates will have the option of keeping or parting ways with players like Oneil Cruz, Joey Bart, Jack Suwinski and Johan Oviedo.
But the Rule 5 draft is the first deadline.
