Giants linebacker Abdul Carter was benched for the opening series of Sunday's Week 11 loss to the Packers. And now, we have an idea of what led to the disciplinary action.
When asked about the benching, interim head coach Mike Kafka declined to go into specifics, saying that it was his decision that he wanted to keep in house.
On Monday, though, The Athletic reported that Carter fell asleep at the team facility and missed a walk-through.
That prompted the Giants linebacker to chime in and offer his explanation for what actually happened. Carter denied that he had slept through a walk-through.
According to Carter, he was doing recovery at the facility and missed the walk-through. He did add, "Nonetheless that’s on ME!”
Carter eventually returned to the game and recorded one tackle. But it did show the willingness of Kafka to hold players accountable — even in an interim role.
