Immigration officials raided a Thai and sushi restaurant in Birmingham and detained “many” employees, according to the restaurant.
Nori Thai and Sushi posted in its stories on Facebook on Nov. 16 that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement had raided their restaurant and detained employees.
“We’re heartbroken to share that our restaurant, Nori, was raided by ICE,” the restaurant posted on Facebook. “As a result, we have lost many wonderful members of our team – people who have helped make Nori the place you know and love.”
The raid apparently happened Nov. 14. The restaurant dining room remains closed.
The restaurant is located at 4704 Cahaba River Rd. The restaurant opened in 2014 and underwent renovation and a grand re-opening in 2023.
