STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — On Monday, the Federal Aviation Administration lifted mandatory flight reductions at 40 major U.S. airports.
Beginning at 6 a.m., the federal agency lifted a flight reduction emergency order that has been in effect since Friday, Nov. 7.
The move was first announced in a joint statement issued by FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy on Sunday.
“I want to thank the FAA’s dedicated safety team for keeping our skies secure during the longest government shutdown in our nation’s history and the country’s patience for putting safety first. Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, controllers have returned to their posts and normal operations can resume,” Duffy said.
