Ahead of the trip to the grocery store for Thanksgiving, prepare yourself for some higher prices on the usual Turkey Day staples.
Between grocery prices and new tariff pressures, it could put a dent in your Thanksgiving menu this year.
The latest Consumer Price Index shows average grocery prices up nearly 3% from last year.
That includes potatoes, meats, fresh vegetables and bakery items, all of which figure to be part of Thanksgiving dinners.
The chief executive officer of Butterball, Jay Jandrain, says turkey prices will be less this year, but the U.S. Department of Agriculture tells a different story, saying that the wholesale price of turkey is up by 40% over 2024.
Tariffs have also pushed up the price of many imports, including wine — up 5% to 12% at some stores.
