An announcement that the UK Government will reconsider a decision to reject compensation for women hit by a change to the state pension age has been met with a cautious response by a local campaigner. ‌

The news broke last week that a controversial call by Work and Pensions Secretary Liz Kendall to deny compensation claims from the women affected would be looked into again. ‌

Ministers have been quick to pour cold water on any guarantees that it could see a reversal – and campaigners for the Women Against State Pension Inequality (WASPI) have been left sceptical over the potential for change. ‌
