The Herald Sun has published an apology to Sam Groth and his wife as part of the settlement of a defamation lawsuit brought by the Victorian Liberal MP.

Mr Groth and his wife, Brittany Groth, sued the newspaper for defamation over three articles it published which questioned how old Ms Groth was when their relationship began.

The articles questioned whether Mr Groth had committed a criminal offence when their relationship began.

Journalist Stephen Drill and editor Sam Weir were listed as co-defendants in the case.

The ABC understands the case was settled out of court, with the Herald Sun running an apology to the couple today as part of the settlement.

"In July and August 2025, the Herald Sun published a series of articles about Sam Groth and Brittany Groth," the apology read.
