Aqua Indiana leaders broke ground today on a $28 million wastewater treatment plant expansion near Lutheran Hospital in southwest Allen County.
The Midwest Wastewater Treatment Plant expansion at 6811 Engle Road will serve customers in Allen, Huntington and Whitley counties. It is the largest investment in the company's history, officials said.
Sadzi Oliva, Aqua Indiana's president, said the capital project will allow the utility to keep up with the area's population growth.
"By investing in advanced treatment technology and increased capacity, we're protecting what matters most – our customer’s health, our local waterways and the future of this community," she said in a statement. "This infrastructure investment will serve the Fort Wayne region for generations to come."
