Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant is likely to sit out until December recovering from a Grade 1 right calf strain.
He left Memphis’ game in the first quarter on Saturday against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The team said he would re-evaluated in approximately two weeks.
Morant, 26, scored seven points and had two assists in six minutes before departing the 108-100 loss.
Morant is averaging 17.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 7.6 assists in 12 games this season.
He has had trouble staying on the court in recent seasons. In 2023-24, he played in just nine games due to a combination of injuries and a pair of suspensions that totaled 33 games. A variety of injuries limited him to 50 games last season.
Morant served a one-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team already this season.
