WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has ended all restrictions on commercial flights that were imposed at airports during the government shutdown.
Transportation Secterary Sean Duffy announced that as of Monday at 6 a.m. ET, air traffic at the nation’s airports can officially return to normal operations.
The restrictions that were instituted back on on Nov. 7 because of air traffic control staffing issues during the shutdown. They were in place at 40 major airports but Monday.
In a press release, the FAA and the Department of Transportation said the restrictions were terminated by a safety team after “their detailed reviews of safety trends and the steady decline of staffing-trigger events in air traffic control facilities.”
