The estate of the late O.J. Simpson has accepted a nearly $58 million claim from the family of Ron Goldman, who was slain alongside Simpson’s ex-wife in 1994, possibly signaling an end to the family’s decades-long quest to collect a civil judgment.
Simpson, who was acquitted of murder charges in the June 1994 deaths of Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson, died in April 2024 in the Las Vegas area from prostate cancer.
Simpson was found liable for the deaths in a civil trial in Santa Monica in 1997 and ordered to pay $33.5 million. The Goldman family has said that Simpson was not cooperative in the years after the civil verdict, and much of that judgment was never been paid.
