ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - As federal agencies work to recover following the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, some local governments are stepping in to help affected residents.

In DeKalb County, officials are activating their community partnerships to combat continuing housing and food insecurity with resources and support.

“Food insecurity is one of the most pressing issues facing our communities,” DeKalb County CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson said. “While we remain hopeful that Congress will act swiftly to restore program funding, we are preparing for every scenario to ensure DeKalb families have access to the resources they need.”
