There were a lot of people hanging around downtown Montreal with extra time on their hands Monday morning.
On the first day of service for the REM’s Deux-Montagnes branch, many transit users said they saved between 30 and 60 minutes on their commute by taking a more direct route to Central Station.
As wind and blowing snow tested the brand new system, riders were treated to a smooth ride to get downtown on the Deux-Montagnes line. There were plenty of parking spots in the lots around suburban train stations, but still a steady flow of commuters were boarding the trains Monday. Parking lots at the Du Ruisseau, Bois-Franc, Sunnybrooke, Pierrefonds—Roxboro, Île-Bigras, Ste-Dorothée, Grand-Moulin and Deux-Montagnes stations offered free spots on the first day, and the spaces are expected to
