BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Officials confirmed former Louisiana House Speaker Clay Schexnayder turned himself in days after being indicted by a Baton Rouge grand jury on charges of felony theft of a “rare state artifact” and malfeasance in office.
According to the Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Office, Schexnayder, 56, of Gonzales, surrendered on Monday, Nov. 17, to special agents in the parking lot of the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
He’s facing charges of felony theft greater than $25,000 and malfeasance in office.
