KEOKUK, Iowa (KWQC) - Officials say $825,000 has been secured through Community Project Funding to support facility improvements at the Keokuk Area Hospital.

The improvements will allow the hospital to offer outpatient specialty services in addition to emergency care, according to a media release.

The area has gone without the services and emergency care since October 2022, officials said.

The improvements are part of Community Project Funding from Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks.

Community Project Funding is a process where members of congress can request funds for specific projects, according to the U.S. Government Accountability Office.
