FLATLANDS — THE ROMAN CATHOLIC DIOCESE OF BROOKLYN CELEBRATED THE 140TH ANNIVERSARY OF ST. THOMAS AQUINAS PARISH in Flatlands on Sunday, Nov. 16, marking more than five generations of faith and community.
The church on Hendrickson Street welcomed Diocesan Bishop Robert Brennan, who was the main celebrant of the anniversary Mass Mass. Concelebrating with him were Father Dwayne Davis, pastor of St. Thomas Aquinas-Our Lady Help of Christians parish; and other priests of the diocese.
Bishop Brennan stands with Fr. Dwayne Davis, pastor of St. Thomas Aquinas/St. Mary Help of Christians parish. Since answering his vocation, Fr. Davis became the first seminarian and the youngest person to receive the National Black Catholic Servus Christi (Servant of Christ) award.
