NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WFSB) - Former New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart has officially filed paperwork to run for Connecticut governor in 2026, according to documents filed with the State Elections Enforcement Commission.

Stewart, a Republican, submitted her candidate registration form on Monday, establishing a campaign committee called “Erin for Connecticut” for the November 3, 2026 election.

The filing shows Stewart’s campaign will be based in Waterbury. Stewart has named Valerie R. Marino of Waterbury as her campaign treasurer and Maxwell Turgeon of Wethersfield as deputy treasurer. The campaign will use Thomaston Savings Bank as its depository institution.
