Casting changes in films can sometimes create tensions among actors, and the story of Meenakshi Seshadri and Madhuri Dixit is a classic example. Originally, Seshadri was to play the lead role in the 1988 film Tezaab, but she was eventually replaced by Dixit. The film went on to make Madhuri an instant star and a household name, especially after her blockbuster song, Ek Do Teen Chaar.

Before the Tezaab controversy, the Hum Aapke Hain Kaun actress had already shared the screen with Meenakshi Seshadri in Kranthi Kumar’s 1986 romantic film, Swati, where Seshadri played the titular role and Dixit took on the role of her stepsister. But this was only the beginning; tensions between the two were set to rise even further after another casting incident.
