Virginia Wesleyan’s women’s volleyball team on Monday received a significant first-time prize for its 31-2 regular season: one of eight host roles nationally for the first three rounds of the NCAA Division III championship tournament.

From Thursday through Saturday at TowneBank Arena in Batten Center, the Marlins will host an eight-team grouping that includes area rival Christopher Newport and three-time defending national champion Juniata. The last team standing will advance to the quarterfinals Dec. 3 in Bloomington, Illinois.
