A regent from the University of Michigan suggested on Monday that the school could one day leave the Big Ten Conference if the league continues its pursuit of a lucrative capital investment deal.

Jordan Acker, outspoken in his opposition to a 20-year, $2.4 billion proposal on the table from UC Investments, the University of California’s non-profit pension fund, told SiriusXM radio that Michigan would look to weigh its options if the Big Ten acted the proposal without the school’s support.

“It gives us a chance now to sit back and say, what else is out there? What else should we be doing?,” Acker said on the “College Sports Today” radio show. “What should we be looking at in terms of Michigan’s future that makes sense?”
