Halton Region Public Health has confirmed a case of hepatitis A in a food handler at Burlington’s Charcoal Pit.
Public health staff “strongly recommend” anyone who ate or drank at the 2031 Lakeshore Rd. restaurant between Oct. 23 and Nov. 1 to contact their health care provider if they experience hepatitis A symptoms, according to a public health notice issued Nov. 14 .
Hepatitis A is an infectious disease caused by a virus that attacks the liver. Symptoms usually occur within 28 to 30 days after the virus enters the body, but can begin any time within 15 to 50 days post-exposure, according to the public health notice.
