CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) - A woman passed away after a collision Monday morning in rural Carbondale, Illinois.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened just before 8 a.m. on November 17 on N. Reed Station Road near Haney Road.
The sheriff’s office said 0-year-old Alex Scott of Du Quoin was driving a passenger vehicle northbound on N. Reed Station Rd. when a pedestrian, 74-year-old Nancy Heil-Schaffner of Carbondale, was walking along the southbound shoulder.
Heil-Schaffner reportedly tried to cross the road and was struck by Scott’s vehicle.
She was transported to an area hospital but died from her injuries a short time later.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
According to an earlier report, N. Reed Station Rd. was closed for two hours
