Federal litigation over the fate of a Camille Pissarro painting worth tens of millions of dollars has been ongoing for 20 years.
California Atty. Gen. Rob Bonta said California’s law calling for looted art to be returned is valid, and his office will defend it in court.
The Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection Foundation, which is owned by Spain, has fought to keep the painting for its Madrid museum.
