WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - Trade tensions between the U.S. and Canada will cost the Ogdensburg Bridge & Port Authority more than a million dollars in revenue this year.
U.S. Senator Charles Schumer was in Watertown Monday to talk about the tourism fallout. Fewer Canadians are visiting the North Country.
Schumer blames President Trump’s war of words, continuing to refer to Canada as the U.S.’s 51st state, and points to tariffs slapped on Canadian imports.
Officials says the OBPA has take a measurable hit at the bridge, the Ogdensburg airport, and the port and rail system.
“I talk about what our mission is, what we’re directed to do by the state of New York and the governor. Because of the lack of funds, it makes it pretty difficult to do what needs to be done,” said Sam Burns, OBPA ch
