AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - Secretary of State Shenna Bellows announced at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles in Augusta on Monday a new process that might save Mainers a trip to the B.M.V.
Bellows said most Mainers who have a Real I.D. will now be able to renew it online instead of having to do it in-person.
Bellows said around 70,000 Mainers with Real I.D. are due for renewal in the next year, and this will save both them and B.M.V. employees time as this process will take just minutes.
With increased concerns regarding identity theft, those who worked on the program made it a priority to create multiple checks for those looking for renewal.
“We are in the business of customer service, and we have been on a five-year journey of modernizing our services to make it more efficient and accessible
