(KBTX) - Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed was named the Associated Press Player of the Week after leading a historic comeback against South Carolina on Saturday.
Reed and the Aggies overcame a 30-3 halftime deficit to the Gamecocks, scoring 28 unanswered points in a 31-30 win to move to 10-0 on the year. It was the largest comeback in A&M history.
Reed threw for 298 yards in the second half, including four straight touchdown drives. The performance marked a dramatic turnaround from his first-half struggles, when he completed just 6 of 19 passes with two interceptions and a fumble.
Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko said Reed’s comeback performance deserves Heisman Trophy consideration.
