MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - One man is dead after shots were fired inside the Wolfchase Galleria mall on Monday.

The Memphis Police Department says this was an isolated incident between two men and not an active shooter event.

Preliminary information suggests that the shooting stemmed from an altercation.

Officers responded to the mall at 2:09 p.m. MPD reports that one victim was located and rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, but did not survive. The sole suspect took off in a white SUV but has since been detained.

Neither the victim nor the suspect has been identified.

Action News 5 still has crews at the scene, where witnesses reported hearing three to five gunshots inside the mall before fleeing.

The lockdown at Wolfchase has since been lifted, and the mall has reopened
