PHOENIX (AZFamily) — New details are providing context to what may have led up to a shooting that almost killed a man at a west Phoenix apartment earlier this month.

Police say that 23-year-old David Jones is facing numerous charges for allegedly attempting to kill his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend.

During Jones’ initial court appearance, the prosecutor said, “Your honor, given the circumstances, this family is still in grave danger of the defendant.”

Although the new boyfriend has survived his injuries, he still remains in critical condition. Prosecutors also said the ex-girlfriend shares a 16-month-old with the suspect.

During the incident, Jones allegedly showed up at his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and shot her current boyfriend three times. Jones allegedly told his ex-girlfriend,
