Speed cameras are a common sight in Salford — so much so one in particular is necessary to stop one big change to Greater Manchester.
Salford is home to 25 speed cameras, but its latest addition on Regent Road is part of a drive to take the speed limit down from 40mph to 30mph. That’s needed to clean up Greater Manchester’s air, according to transport bosses.
In cleaning up the air with a lower speed limit on the city centre thoroughfare, it means drivers won’t have to pay to use Greater Manchester’s roads — as was planned for some motorists until a 2022 U-turn.
