LAYTON — A man is dead after police say he crashed into a pole on Hill Field Road in Layton Monday morning.
Sgt. Ross Pranter with the Layton Police Department said the crash happened in the area of Hill Field Road and 1150 North in a U-turn area just before 5 a.m.
Pranter said the driver was an 84-year-old man driving a truck, and no other vehicles were involved. Police believe he may have had a medical episode before crashing.
When first responders made it to the scene, the man was unresponsive, Pranter said. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Traffic delays were reported in the area as emergency crews remained on scene.
