SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Home and auto insurance premiums are increasing significantly as customers prepare to renew their policies, with some seeing increases of hundreds of dollars.
The national average homeowners’ insurance cost is just over $2,400 per year, according to Bankrate . Missouri sits lower at just under $2,200, while Arkansas is just over $3,200.
Bryant Young with Insurors of the Ozarks said rates are rising by about 25% on average, which would mean an additional $550 for Missourians, according to Bankrate’s data.
“My father and grandfather started the shop in the early 80s, and Dad still works in the business, and he says on a daily basis that this is the worst-rate environment our agency has ever seen,” Young said.
