A parachuter died Sunday afternoon near Longmont’s Vance Brand Municipal Airport after a witness saw him “descending quickly, in a spin.”
The witness said it appeared the man’s parachute did not fully open.
Just after 3 p.m., Boulder County dispatch received a report that a parachuter was face down in a field and not breathing near the 10000 block of North 75th Street, which is just southwest of the airport, according to a Boulder County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Personnel from the Hygiene Fire Protection District and the sheriff’s office responded to the scene, and first responders administered CPR, according to sheriff’s office spokesperson Vinnie Montez.
The parachuter, a 60-year-old man, was pronounced dead on scene.
