Jonathan Bailey is ready to take everyone who knew him down the Yellow Brick Road.

The Wicked: For Good star was ever the gentleman as he looked back at those who bullied him in high school for his sexuality, laughing that now they are likely bragging about having gone to school with him.

“They’ve got their tickets for the first night of Wicked ,” Jonathan exclusively joked with E! News’ Justin Sylvester at the film’s New York City premiere Nov. 17. “When ‘For Good’ is playing, they’ll be like, ‘Yeah, it’s so amazing because I knew him.’”

But having gone through what he did in his younger years made him realize how universal the story of Wicked —and those of Elphaba ( Cynthia Erivo ) and Glinda ( Ariana Grande )—actually is.
