PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - As the holiday season approaches, it does not look like the recently ended government shutdown is going to impact travel, but it may have caused some to change course.
According to AAA, more than four million people across Illinois will be traveling to make it to Thanksgiving dinner. Most of those will be making the trek via car.
Travel records have been broken nationally, as well as in Illinois. Molly Hart, a spokesperson with AAA, said Thanksgiving is the busiest holiday they track.
Hart mentioned that with the shutdown, it is possible that many chose the roads over the skies, and that could show if folks do not hit the road at the right time.
