Texas, southern state leaders discuss faith programs in prison

“What we see out of it is the inmates are a lot calmer when they have someone to talk to,” said Smith County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Gary Pinkerton. “Someone that’s neutral, that’s not a guard, someone they don’t really know, and they feel they can talk to that person.”
