Former Harvard President Larry Summers says he's "stepping back from public commitments" amid fallout over revelations about his communications with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Summers, still a professor at the university and an influential economist who was treasury secretary under President Bill Clinton, said Monday that he is working to rebuild trust in his close personal relationships and that he takes responsibility for the conversations, which were revealed last week in thousands of documents released by the House Oversight Committee.
