WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Wichita is once again ranked as the most affordable place for renters in the United States, according to a new survey from The New York Times.
The survey found that more than 50% of available rentals in Wichita are priced under $1,000 per month, placing the city at the top of the affordability rankings.
Craig Compton, a research economist at Wichita State University and renter himself, said the city’s affordability varies by location.
“Across the city, you see this general story that housing is pretty affordable. But if you look at the different textures across different neighborhoods and census tracts, you see that some areas have less affordability,” Compton said.
