RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein said Monday that his office is aware of reports that U.S. Border Patrol agents are bringing an enforcement operation to Raleigh.
In a statement posted to social media, Stein urged federal agents to focus on “violent criminals, not neighbors walking down the street, going to church, or putting up Christmas decorations.”
“Stop targeting people simply going about their lives because of the color of their skin, as you are doing in Charlotte,” Stein wrote. He encouraged Raleigh residents to remain peaceful and to record and report any wrongdoing to local law enforcement.
