Sydney Benally considers the basketball court her second home, but her true roots lie in the Land of Enchantment. She was a standout prospect at Sandia High in Albuquerque, earning the title of Gatorade Player of the Year twice for New Mexico.

Initially signing with Princeton, she later transferred to BYU, citing proximity to home and accessibility for her family and community as key reasons.

"When I opened up my recruitment again, they reached out first and I just realized how close I'll be to home and how easy access it'll be for my family, but also my community to watch me play," Benally said.
