ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) - A local group awarded $1 million to 19 nonprofits in the Quad Cities area to support prenatal care in the face of what they call a maternal mortality crisis.
“Too many people go without care early on in their pregnancy, whether it’s because they don’t know where to go or they don’t have the dollars to make it feasible,” said Tom Bowman, CEO of Community Health Care, Inc.
The Better Health Foundation awarded a $350,000 Solutions at Scale grant to Community Health Care, a regional nonprofit health center that offers medical, dental, and behavioral health care services.
